skin transformed using the obagi blue peel, part 2

the Obagi Nuderm program, is designed to transform your skin, making its cycle more regular and the pigmentation less obvious.

After using the Nuderm program for 6 – 8 weeks the Obagi Blue Peel can be done.

This is a TCA peel designed to resurface the skin taking out pigment, open pores, fine wrinkles.

While the peeling only starts about 3 – 4 days after the peel, it can be quite dramatic. It normally settles down by day 8 – 10 depending on the depth of the peel.

In my next post I will put up photos of the final results following the peel……….

skin transformed using the obagi blue peel, part 1

Pigmentation can occur from sun damage, trauma, acne scarring and from harmonal causes.

Melasma or Colasma are conditions where the behaviour of pigment cells in your skin are altered because of harmonal changes that commonly relate to pregnancy or the use of contraceptive pill.

This condition can be very hard to correct.

One of the most effective ways is to use the Obagi Nuderm program to prepare the skin and then perform the Obagi Blue Peel

does expensive mean efficacy?

a serum more expensive than diamonds !

it is hard to get effective molecules past the skin barrier, which is designed by nature to keep out everything – chemicals, bacteria, fungi etc.

just because there is a so called magic molecule “Epidermal Growth Factor” there is  no explanation given as to how this protein is kept active at room temprature, how it penetrates the skin barrier nor can I find any studies to support the claim.

If anyone is any wiser I would love to hear your comments, till then I remain uncovinced at another attempt by Boots to befuddle clients with technology

Caveat Emptor!

Stress and Time Management (Anita H.BMJ, 16 July 2005)

Here are some notes from an excellent article I read

Common sources of stress

  • too many or unrealistic demands
  • too little time to do things properly
  • too little control over what you do and when
  • too much monitoring
  • too little appreciation
  • too many tasks that don’t matter to you, and too few that do

An important tip is to maintain a Stress Diary and focus on the things that bring joy to you!

Soap is BAD for the skin!!!

The outermost layer of adult skin should normally be a bit acidic. Soap or other harsh cleansers strip this acid mantel and cause the skin to loose moisture leaving it dry and susceptible to bacterial and fungal infections. Send me your email address if you are interested in finding out more…….

The Which report on Anti-Wrinkle eye creams

Don’t take anti-wrinkle eye creams at face value, says Which?

20 August 2009

Forget claims by expensive anti-wrinkle eye creams, says consumer champion Which?, they probably won’t make much difference and a £3 moisturiser could do a better job.

Using volunteers aged from 35 – 65, Which? tested 12 anti-wrinkle eye products*, including one which says it makes the face ‘look visibly younger’, and found that none of them came close to eliminating or significantly reducing the appearance of wrinkles. (more…)

Botox complications

Botox can result in undesirable results when the nurse or doctor injecting, does not understand the muscle dynamics of the face. In the upper half of the face wrinkles result from an imbalance in the activity of the pull muscle of the forehead (which pull the eyebrow up) and the scrunch muscle around the eye (which helps shut the eyes).

When too aggressive a dose is administered to correct horizontal forehead lines asymmetry of the brow can result.

The following pictures are of a client who had such an asymmetry of the brow  following botox injection by a dentist, I corrected this asymmetry by carefully injecting the pull up and scrunch muscles and restoring the balance of the muscles.

see the difference in the level of the right and left eyebrows

symmetry of the brow improved by carefully placed botox injections
